Kentucky Triathlon Championship | 2023

The Kentucky State Triathlon Championship in 2023 was hosted by Tri Louisville, which took place on July 23rd. The event was held at the Brown-Forman Amphitheater at Waterfront Park in Louisville, KY.

The 2023 race marked the first year that the Kentucky Triathlon Championships were included in the USA Triathlon National Championship Series. 

So, how did it go? Well, it was quite a journey. In late 2022, I had a job opportunity, but in the first trimester of 2023, I wasn't able to train as much as I wanted. I didn't let that stop me. I kicked off the year with the Flying Pig half-marathon in March and managed to squeeze in a few triathlons, including the Cincinnati 1/3 Ironman, where I finished first overall. In September 2023, I pushed myself further by participating in Ironman 70.3 Muncie, finishing 3rd Overall.

This Kentucky Championships event took place in June, and I was able to fit in some training beforehand.

The Swim in the Ohio River went smoothly, and the transition was super lovely.

The Bike was a 40 km ride consisting of two laps. The course was lined with enthusiastic athletes and spectators who cheered us on, adding to the energy of the race.

The 10K Run was a unique experience as it followed a portion of the same route as the memorable IRONMAN Louisville, which I completed in 2018 as a professional, finishing 8th with a time of 9:51:46.

In this 10K run, I aimed to maintain a consistent pace while enjoying the challenge and the smiles along the way. I finished in 2nd overall, with a time of 2:10. I was very excited to be a part of this experience, community, and to handle it so well.
